Congratulations to GRC Athletes
By · CommentsEventhough it’s the dreary time of the year, we’ve had a few athletes achieve some nice accomplishments in local activities:
- Ger L- Won Overall Female Masters in the Superbowl 5k. Even with a 20 second improvement over last year with tired legs getting ready for Du Nationals coming up.
-Chad S.- Overall personal PR at the Winterlaufe 8k. (He even beat his wife for bragging rights in their household!)
-Jane S.- She is a huge proponent of her local tri club, “FAST” out of Livonia. Jane was unanimously elected “Member of the Year!” Congrats to Jane.
Disney, Goofy and Marathon Strategy
By · Comments2010 started out with Coach Lori and myself heading to Disney to run the half and full marathons. Our training had progressed nicely this fall and with the relatively mild winter we’ve had, almost all the long runs have been done outside. Except for the week leading up to the race, the Coach has spent alot of time in the woods preparing with the long runs. After having run the race, I was disappointed not having signed up for the Goofy Challenge (running both the half and full marathons). For $300+ you get both finishers medals and an additional medal for completing the Goofy. They had over 7000 people run both. Amazing! Read More→
Race and Coaching Plans
By · CommentsGolden Ring Coaching is once again proud to be part of the Running Fit T-Rex race series in 2010. We’ll be hosting bi weekly sessions at Island Lake. In signing up for the series, you’ll also be able to chose from a pre-packaged race training program geared specifically for the 3 race series.
We are also working with the Milford YMCA in designing a race training plan for their event held in June at Kensington State Park. This is designed for first time or newbie athletes to this event.
Ironman and 2010
By · CommentsWhat a great way to spend New Years Day; sitting in front of the TV, working on Annual Plans/taxes and watching replays of the past 8 years of Ironman on Universal Sports. It does wonders for the motivation and getting fired up for the upcoming season. Read More→
Race Pacing-10K style
By · CommentsSo, I recently did a 10k down in Sylvania, Ohio for my buddy Todd Crandell of the Racing for Recovery organization. He’s been a friend of mine since I got started in triathlon and one of the few crazies out there that can relate to my personal “insanity.” (All good of course!). One of the things I have found since starting in the sport almost 10 years ago is to try and help out with the non profit’s as much as possible and tie it into a little racing while I’m at it. Brooksie Way Half Marathon Report
By · CommentsThis time of year is great knowing that we are moving out of triathlon/cycling season into running/marathon season. Nice cool days and colorful leaves and a build up to some type of long distance run. This day(Sunday, October 4th) was the 2nd annual BrooksieWay Half Marathon at Oakland University. Having lived in this area, I knew most of the course and was excited to come back. We had another GRC athlete participating and eventually leading her field. Read More→
