Tawas Triathlon Race Results
ByWhat a gorgeous setting for an event….The weather was much better this year and we had beautiful weather. Virtually no wind, flat water and sunny skies. Our team had 4 athletes participating, so it was great hanging with everyone. Eric finished his first olympic distance and looked great coming across the line. He was obviously well prepared.
Jane unfortunately had a mechanical issue that took her out of the bike when she was sitting 2nd overall woman. I’m confident she’d had won overall women’s division, but it wasn’t to be her day.
Chad had a great result as the AG winner for the 40-44 in the sprint race. He hammered the bike and held on to win with a solid run.
The coach had a good race. The swim could use some improvement, but getting OW time lately has been a challenge. Due to the staggering of the starts, we had a lot of sprinters in the mix, so you had to ride your own race. The coach’s sprint workouts lately helped on the run. Although, I got caught by 2 twenty year olds on the last 1.5 miles to finish in 10th overall and winner of the 40-44 AG in the Olympic. It’s always nice to have the athletes do well during an event.
The volunteers and city folk at Tawas were great. The host hotel is the best location to transition that I’ve ever had. It was 100 yards away from the start. Again a good race to attend and I’d recommend it to anyone for a season ending triathlon.
